What is PGP?
PGP
(Pretty Good Privacy) is a highly
secure public/private key authentication and encryption
program.
In
order for iTouch to bill you for sending EmailSMS messages,
we have to ensure that the message is being sent from
a registered customer. PGP allows us to securely authenticate
our customers so that we can bill each customer for their
usage.
Download PGP
You are required to download PGP software before registering
for the EmailSMS service.
Download
the latest PGP version.
Create PGP key pair
After installing PGP on your system, you are required to create
a PGP key pair.
This is done as follows:
- 1.
Launch PGP program
- 2.
Select “Keys” menu
- 3.
Select “New Key”
- 4.
The Key Generation Wizard will guide you through the
process of generating a key pair
Enigma
Enigma
is an auto-signing gateway that allows you to automate
the PGP-signing of outgoing EmailSMS. It also includes
administrative and security features such as extensive
allow/deny lists for hosts, email addresses and cellular
phone numbers, as well as message logging.
Enigma
can be used in conjunction with the EmailSMS service to
automate the sending of EmailSMS and to be able to administer
security functions.
Enigma v1.0 has been tested with the following email packages:
- MS Outlook
- MS Outlook Express
- Hotmail
on the following platforms:
- Windows 95/98
- Windows NT
- UNIX
Enigma requires knowledge of:
- Domain name address resolving mechanisms
- Email protocols (SMTP)
- Mail server configuration
Please note: The installation of Enigma requires the help of your Systems Administrator.
Download Enigma (freeware).
Submission formats
Email Formats
There are 3 different
formats that may be used to send messages. For the
examples below the following dummy variables will be used:
Cell Number 1:
082xxxxxxx
Cell Number 2:
083yyyyyyy (for the purpose of demonstrating multiple
messages from a single email)
The text to be
sent to the cell phone: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Format 1

[Once
composed this message must be PGP signed]
Format 2

[Once
composed this message must be PGP signed]
Format 3 - Presigned messages
This format enables a user to send a presigned
message. The body of the message (from x-cellphone
to the end of the message) is signed separately and pasted
into the email.

Please note:
The
following variables may be entered into the text box of
the email:
- X-Validity
: the validity of an SMS (= time period during which
the network retires sending the SMS should the recipient's
cellphone be switched off or out of coverage) can be
set here. The default and maximum values is 1d (one
day).
- X-Notify
: the user can enable/disable notification for individual
SMS (0 = notification off, 2 = notification via email).
Should you
choose not to set these variables, default values will be
used.
Send your SMS
Once the message has been composed and the recipient addresses
entered, the email needs to be PGP-signed before being
